The Wild Fig Bow Hunting Lodge is ideal for family and friends, church or other groups who want to experience nature and game viewing at its best within an hour or two from the hustle and bustle of the large cities. At this lodge, we focus on bow hunting, but rifle hunts are also allowed.
Our six en-suite luxury chalets are clean and spacious. Option of two 6-bed, two 4-bed and two 2-bed thatched chalets with single beds and own bathroom; shower and toilet, bedding included.

A fully spacious communal self-catering facility is available to all guests.
Non-hunters can enjoy a relaxing time going on walks, game drives or relaxing by the pool, enjoying the quietness of nature.
There is a spacious children’s playground with a Jungle Gym, swings, see-saw, trampoline and enclosed pool.

The Wild Fig Outfitters
Embark on a journey of a lifetime and experience some of the best bow hunting experiences South-Africa has to offer close to the major metropolitan areas of Johannesburg and Tshwane.

Hunting can be undertaken from beginning of May to the end of August. We hunt mainly from 5 well-established hides around waterholes and seeding areas; we also allow walk and stalk.
Hunt in the malaria-free and game-rich Limpopo region of South Africa. Enjoy our luxury lodge accommodation. Non-hunter members of your group will have a great time too, with lots to see and do in this exciting region. We look forward to sharing the magic of South-Africa with you.

*Please note that if your group have only 1 hunter you may be sharing the lodge and hunting area with another group*

A 5-star Family Weekend
The NextHunt team visited The Wild Fig Bow Hunting Lodge with friends and family (including lots o' children) during September 2017. A mere 130 km from Pretoria got us there (just outside of Bela-Bela) in around 90 minutes.

Upon our arrival we were impressed by the staff's warm and friendly greeting and the venue's comfortable accommodation with en-suite bathrooms. There are 2x6 sleepers, 2x4 sleepers (2 beds and 2 bunks) and 2x2 sleepers along with a main lodge consisting of a spacious living room, dining room, kitchen (oh the kitchen!) and pantry with more than enough fridges and other appliances.

At the center of the camp is the fire pit, where we spent the evenings around a big fire, while the guys braaied on the side.
A splash pool (locked behind a gate and fence for wandering children) offered some respite against the dry bushveld heat. The kids area kept them playing for hours and gave us time to relax.

In being a bow hunting farm, the animals weren't skittish or as scared of the vehicles as one would expect towards the end of a hunting season, which made for an enjoyable game drive.

Despite being a bow hunting farm, the owner will allow rifle hunters towards the end of the season and with prior arrangement. For rifles, a 100m range with a proper shooting bench provided opportunity to sight our rifles. If you ask nicely, you can go to the 1000m range, if you're up for it. The 250 hectares might sound small, but a walk down to the gate will definitely give you a decent workout. Predominantly bushveld, with some open plains where longer shots may be required. There are a few ground and elevated hides from where your quarry may be taken, unless you opt for a walk and stalk. Blue wildebeest, blesbuck and impala were in no shortage, but please don't shoot the friendly (pet?) nyala and kudu bulls that come to drink water behind the chalets every night!

There were cleaning staff around to keep the kitchen in top shape, which was so nice not to worry about (this isn't charged extra, so remember to tip).

The Wild Fig is open throughout the year for hunting as well as non-hunting bookings, so feel free to take the family through, even if you don't intend to hunt.
